Where to begin?! First off, welcome to Husky Mama Travels! We are a simple curation of all the best things we believe life offers!
After our aha moment last April, we decided it was high time to live this one life like there is no tomorrow. As we live adventurously, it may not be what most folks think of as “adventure”. Our adventure mindset turns ordinary events and things into somethin’ special!
These adventures sometimes (mostly) include our love of travel. These will take us hours away from home base for a few days, where we can explore all the beautiful things a new place has to offer. Other times, it’s a smaller weekend trip or a day trip. We also have accumulated a small list of places that were so amazing – we can’t wait to go back!
Who doesn’t love a good road trip?! All paws up here! Adventures also include date nights: hubs and I, one on ones with each kiddo, girlies and boys’ dates. Included in an adventure life, we think of our movie nights, in warmer months, we take outside with a bonfire under the stars. Winter months, we snuggle up inside with our fireplace. Anytime movie night happens we have a snack table full of the crew’s favorites! Holidays and birthdays are always an adventure – from making the dessert to finding a new place to visit. We also think of the culinary world as an adventure. Hubs and I both have passion for cooking and baking. There is always something delicious being served! From desserts to dinners, everything will always be gluten free, a bit healthier but just as decadent!
Since paring down our belongings, we are left with the essentials. What remains are those thoughtful things that make our lives, easier, better, more efficient or beautiful. Here, we share our love of living differently but minimally. Life is precious, we only get one. There are no do overs, repeats, or rewind buttons. We try to be of present mind, today is here, we are here, in this moment let’s try to fully immerse in what that actually means. This blog will also have a weekly day of a few of our favorite things. These can be a variety of songs, podcast, tv shows or movies we’ve recently heard, products we love and use, something fun from one of the kiddos or just a favorite moment the week gave us.
As I was researching how to “blog”, I realized most folks have a niche. A one way to a simple streamlined blog subject. Us, not so much. You will probably notice as the post come, that I usually have a million tabs open and a million thoughts all the while trying to condense into something concise. We want this blog to be a home for all sorts of ideas and be curated as a place for ideas to flow freely. It’s not just a travel blog, nor a food blog. It’s a culmination of what makes us truly content in our 300sqft RV with all the fur, slobbery kisses and husky love one could want.
Since we’ve had the pleasure of adopting Forrest, adventures are a bit differently. He uses a wheelchair; we have a stroller, and he has a backpack to comfortably ride all of those “rough trails”. Not that we didn’t know but we never actually knew how difficult it was to find ADA or stroller friendly trails (that were appropriately marked). When hiking, we, now take everything into consideration- our love of Forrest led us to our rating system for hikes. Not everyone has the opportunity to see hiking or trails differently. We do and we love to share our experiences with others, in hopes they too, will take a hike!
We always make sure everything we do is fur kid approved. Whether that’s trails, stores, dates, foods etc. Within reason, our trips are curated for their enjoyment too! At Husky Mama Travels, we call ahead to sniff out the best dining or picnicking spots. We try out fur kid recipes (waffles anyone?!) that the humans will love as well. We scour parks, trails and events to find the best way for fido to tag along and make the adventure even more fun!
Wherever that may lead us is still a solid question, but we’re happy being here, in the moment.
Cheers to the next adventure!
