Laveena

After losing Katana April 2019, we felt lost. It was just Atticus and Magdalene now. We wanted to give them a damn good life, but we were missing the third wheel. We were pretty good with huskies (or so we thought) at this point. We weren’t ready to adopt because our hearts were still mending. We donated and gave our two the best. We tossed the idea around but none of the ones we talked about seemed like a good idea. I had been following Husky Halfway House for sometime at this point. Jenni had many options, but I was worried someone would take Katana’s place. Late September 2022, I woke up to a post by H3… Jenni, in her usual selfie form, with a husky but this husky was different. I sent her picture to the hubs and asked his thoughts… he’s like go for it. There’s something special about her. I don’t know if it was her soulful look, or a recognition but I immediately reached out to Jenni. Since, we were already approved for an adoption; it went quicker than we thought. We were told she was found by a good Samaritan on the streets of Oklahoma City. They brought her to a local vet where they found out she had a heat stroke. Jenni then took her in from them. Rhapsody (at the time) was then enroute to our place. We were ecstatic but scared… what if she doesn’t fit, what if Atticus and Magdalene don’t like her, what if… yeah… too many to count. We received notifications from Jenni as Rob made his way across the US dropping off huskies into their potential forver homes. Then it was our turn. She was much smaller than what we were thinking… a pint sized middle aged calm husky…. or so we thought. We changed her name to Laveena Grace. Laveena quickly became part of the pack. She just melded in and fit with us. As she has came out of her shell, we’ve seen her personality shine through. She is either an angel or Hood Monalisa (our favorite nickname for her). She can terrorize her big little brother one minute and the next snuggle up to him.Laveena Bean has no problem throwing down with the big guys and will be the first to stand up for the pack. Laveena is the wild creature, we did not know we needed until she came home. I love watching her learn how to adventure, how to live and most of all I love this opportunity we have to show her how amazing life is.
