How did we get here…

As most typical Americans, we too, were sick and tired of the rat race… Monday through Friday were always a haze of waking early, scrambling to get dressed, scarfing down a quick breakfast, rushing out the door, work all day – only to rush home, haphazardly clean, cook, walk the dogs and try to squeeze in some time with the hubs. The cycle seemed to only to rinse and repeat day after day. Whew- it was so stressful! Friday nights, I always looked forward to the coveted weekends until I realized I didn’t. Those precious days were full of cleaning, laundry, and all of the other mundane things needed to get ready for the following week. We felt like the fur kids (and us!) weren’t getting enough of what life should be about. When life threw us a curveball March of 2023, we took it as a sign from the universe…. we quickly decided we needed a redo. A chance to enjoy life, a chance to reconnect, to get back to the roots of living. We then listed our house, had yard sale after yard sale, trip after trip to Goodwill and slowly let go of all those possessions that were holding us down. We pulled our RV out of storage, gave her a good deep clean and started moving our things in. Only the things that made us happy, those precious things that mean the world to us or useful things were allowed. We both took a good hard look at all of the things we had accumulated (why in the world did I need 15 decorative pumpkins?!) and chose only the things we needed or wanted. It was freeing but terrifying. As the house went under contract, then sold – we left and moved to Virginia. A new state, a new start and full time RV life is legal! Now, months later, we know we made the right decision. We are content, our fur kids are happier, and life is a bit calmer.
